About Us

Where are we?

Honeyhearth, known in dwarvish as Baile Meala Modan, is an archipelago of small islands. The main island travelers tend to visit and stay at is the island commonly also known as Honeyhearth, but in dwarvish we refer to it as Baile Meala.Baile Meala Modan is located off the northern coast of Northeron, in the Forbidding Sea.

Who are we?

We are Clan Honeyhearth, (or Clan Bachlianne) a Wildhammer clan who own and run Honeyhearth Meaderies. We are among the oldest dwarven clans.

What are we about?

One could guess that we are a brewing clan, but Honeyhearth leans heavily into our Wildhammer roots. Our clan traditions include druidism and shamanism and we take pride in our role as stewards of the land. Our traditions have always been Matriarchal by design and our credo is to nurture. Clan Honeyhearth’s doors are open to women seeking a different way to thrive, and to refugees who need a place to heal, recuperate and grow.

The Honeyhearth Flower Festival

Long ago in the times when arranged marriages and marriages of convenience were more common, Honeyhearth was founded by a lesbian Thane and her wife. Honeyhearth became a haven for Wildhammer people who didn’t fit with the societal norms of love or gender.News of the settlement spread through the land, which brought both good and bad to their door, but one of the good things that it brought was a concept. An idea that love should be chosen and allowed to grow, that a partnership should not simply be born of survival and convenience, but also of fondness and tender care. It was also understood that romantic love sometimes is short lived, but that doesn’t make it less powerful.A festival was started in honor of spring and all the wonders brought with it. Rebirth, newness, a cycle repeating. It became a time to celebrate winter receding, a time to find love again.. And a time to renew old vows. This became the time when Wildhammers visited the settlement to find relationships of their own, if they were free to do so, no matter who the object of their affection might be.

The Feast of Hallowtide

Hallowtide is an old Shamanic practice dating back more than a thousand years! This holiday came about due in part to Shamans who were often spiritual leaders & practitioners that could commune with the elements, spirits, and ancestors. These Shamans came to understand that there are days during the year where the veil is at its most thin between the living and the dead. Similar to Hallow’s End, Hallowtide is not exactly the same though it does marry some of the popular newer activities with old traditions. This day often fell around their last harvest of the year, around their cooler autumnal months. While many of the spirits that could return were ancestors, family spirits, and even their animal companions, the veil could not differentiate between benevolent guests to the living world, and malevolent shades that sought to do harm to the living while they could. The Shamanic Dwarven folk from all communities, clans and otherwise, would venture out to work together in creating rituals that sought to honor the ancestors and gain protection; these rituals asked for blessing of the Ancestors. A blessing was bestowed to them if they had honored their Ancestors properly, and it was said to be so powerful that it allowed all of their clan even those who were not Shamans themselves, so they might be able to see the spirits good and ill.The ever wise Shamans and Elders then beseeched the aid of the Elements. Elementals who aided the Dwarven clans would heighten their appearance, taking on monstrous visages to ward malevolent spirits away from the clans that were in the protection of the elements. Shades who saw these monstrous creatures would usually steer clear, as the shades were not powerful enough to take on what was seemingly a monster. When all was secured within a Dwarven community, and the Sun was soon to fall, it was time for a feast! A feast for both living and the ancestors, telling tales of the year, stories of triumph or success and even scary stories! There are plenty of traditions various clans may do for Hallowtide, and each tradition is unique across Clans and Kin. Some take to burning large bonfires to honor their fallen in nightly vigils, burning messages, food, and drink to be sent to their lost loved ones, others take to carving various monstrous gourds and calling to nature to don the gourd-heads to ward spirits, as well as wearing costumes to confuse the spirits into believing that the living they seek are elsewhere and naught is left but monsters and creatures to roam where the living once stayed.
